Lifelong Learning programs offer a wide range of opportunities and activities throughout the county for 50+ Learners. There are more than 140 courses in variety of areas, including Art, Art History, Brain Fitness, History, Current Events, Personal Finance, Fitness, and more. Classes are available in-person or online.

First Ladies of the 20th Century
Featured Class: America's First Ladies: The Evolving Role & Traditions

This course is an exploration of the fascinating history of our first ladies in the 20th century—including, among others, Ida McKinley, whose turn as first lady was marked by the tragic assassination of her husband; Edith Wilson who married the widowed President Wilson during his first term and who would play an important role in his administration after he suffered a stroke; Eleanor Roosevelt a diplomat and activist in her own right who changed the role of First Lady, and Lady Bird Johnson who broke further ground by interacting with Congress and doing a solo electioneering tour.

February 10 to March 10, 2025,  5 Mondays. 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Online

You can also register via online. Please note: If you are aged 60+ and your class is eligible for tuition waiver, you have to register via fax, in-person or mail to receive tuition waiver for the first time. You will still have to pay the fee for the class.  After the initial registration, you can register online. If you have questions or need assistance with online registration, please contact our Customer Service at 240-567-5188.

  • Lifelong Learning  courses offer a wide variety of topics for you.
    • Don't worry about a grade, these are noncredit. Take them for fun. Learn something new!
  • Credit Classes can can lead to a degree or a certificate. 
    • Maybe you want to finish your degree? Or get a Certificate in a topic of interest to you.
  • Audit a class, this is an opportunity to take credit classes without worrying about a grade.
  • Face to Face  and Online Courses are available.
