Energy Conservation and Sustainability

Buildings on the Rockville campus, all LEED certified.
Science Center Complex on the Rockville Campus all LEED Gold Certified.

The energy conservation team is here to inform the students, faculty, staff, and friends of the College about the important program of energy management and resource conservation. We invite you to partner with us in making Montgomery College and the community more energy efficient and environmentally friendly. Below you will see the College's building energy use and cost per gross square foot, carbon offset, commodity performance, and spending trends. The Current FY Resource Conservation Plan (RCP) (PDF, Get Adobe Acrobat PDF Reader - Link opens in new window) supports the College's energy conservation Capital Improvements Program (CIP) and utility operating budget requests for funding. Resource Conservation is behavior or change in behavior that results in safe, reliable and economical use of resources. Balanced use of resources is the basis for sustainability and Montgomery College’s Resource Conservation Program. A Resource Conservation Plan (RCP) is prepared annually to describe the College’s efforts. The RCP further describes utility management, benchmarking, green building design, MC Green team, renewable energy credits in the form of solar and/or wind energy, building automated controls, and recycling.
