MC Foundation Student Story

Ms. Eman Saqib
Ms. Eman Saqib was elected to the board to serve a one-year term as a student representative in 2024.

Ms. Saqib is pursuing her AA in criminal justice. Her dedication to serving as the voice of the student body has led her to achieve several leadership roles at the College, including co-chair of MC’s Community Service Committee, Vice President of the South Asian Cultural Club, Senator of the Student Government Association, Sisters Relations Representative for the Muslim Student Association, as well as Treasurer of the South Asian Club. She has been an active member of the Student Council serving as Secretary, and Equity and Inclusion Committee at Montgomery College.  Ms. Saqib has is a member of the Renaissance Honor Scholar Program and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, an esteemed international honor society that recognizes excellence for community college students. Ms. Saqib is currently a Student Assistant for the Department of Art at the Rockville Campus. She is also fluent in Urdu, Punjabi, and Hindi.

Ms. Saqib’s education goal is to transfer to a four-year institution to pursue her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.

Ms. Lauren Chin
Ms. Lauren Chin was elected to the board to serve a one-year term as a student representative in 2024. 

Ms. Chin is in enrolled in MC’s Early College Program where she will complete her high school education while simultaneously completing her first two years of college. She is currently pursuing her AA in General Engineering. Ms. Chin comes to MC with a passion to advocate for the student body. Her role as Senator at-large for the Student Government Association has led her to being one of two student directors selected for the Presidential Scholar Selection Committee. She has been active in fundraising for scholarships and conducted surveys to gauge students outlook on events, administration, and inclusivity at Montgomery College.

Ms. Chin continues to be active in her high school by serving as the Secretary for both the Mu Alpha Theta and Asian Pacific Student Union. She is also a Sherwood Student Ambassador, a member of the It’s Academic team, a member of the National Honor Society, and a varsity swimmer.

Ms. Chin’s educational goal is to attend a four-year institution to study electrical or computer engineering.
