The Pinkney Innovation Complex for Science and Technology, or PIC MC, is MC's integrated academic, business, and research campus located in Germantown, Maryland.

Meet Dr. Hercules Pinkney

Hercules Pinkney has a long history of exemplary service to the community. After retiring from Montgomery College as interim president, the Board of Trustees named the business park on the Germantown Campus the Hercules Pinkney Life Sciences Park in his honor. In 2015, the College renamed the park the Pinkney Innovation Complex for Science and Technology at Montgomery College (PIC MC).

Dr. Pinkney has been recognized for his service to governmental, community, business, and faith-based organizations including previous service as a member the Maryland Life Sciences Advisory Board, chairman of the Board of Directors of Holy Cross Health, chair of the Board of Directors of the Gaithersburg Germantown Chamber of Commerce, executive leadership advisor to Elaunchers.com, and member of the Advisory Board of The Learning Community International and SPAGnVOLA.

In 2010, while serving as interim president, he was named by Leadership Montgomery as County Leader of the Year. Dr. Pinkney has been recognized as Educator of the Year by the African American Chamber of Commerce of Montgomery County. Additionally, he has been the recipient of numerous other awards from civic and faith related organizations including being named twice (within five years) as Man of Honor for the Spirit of Community Award, and in 2021, he was honored as a Montgomery County Living Legend.


The PIC MC Foundation

The Foundation supports the Innovation Complex, providing an integrated academic, business, and research environment. Through the Foundation, MC provides space for economic development. Entrepreneurs are provided a resource-rich location. Students gain access to internships and interaction with industry professionals.

We supply the workforce. Matching the needs of our evolving workforce with the proper training and education programs is an ever-present challenge. At MC we constantly strive to be relevant to needs of the county’s employers, our community, and our students.
