Covid's War on Immigrants

As a son of two former immigrants, I know well the stories of hardships that immigrants must endure when coming to this country. Many flee from poverty, crime, etc. They come here in search of a better life and opportunities. When they get here, many are glad to have escaped all those hardships; but that does not mean they do not face any new ones in this country. Many immigrants work long, hard jobs with little or no health insurance for them or their families. Never have we seen the importance of this be so great but recently due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In this paper, I will be using two interviews that I conducted separately, with two immigrants who have lost their jobs as a result of the pandemic. I will also be using the American Immigration Council website, along with the Central for Migration Studies website and the Center for American Progress to provide additional background research in order to discuss the impact that COVID-19 has had on the immigrant population, both on a local, and national level.
