Nail Technician Update

The Maryland Department of Labor, Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing, State Board of Cosmetologists (Board) licenses and regulates individuals who practice the trade of cosmetology in the State of Maryland. The Board has contracted with PSI Services LLC (PSI) to conduct its cosmetology examination program.

 

NEW - Continuing Education Requirements

The Maryland State Legislature requires Licensees to complete six hours of approved continuing education as a condition of license renewal.

  • The effective date for licensees to come into compliance will be January 1, 2026.

Montgomery College has been approved as a provider for Cosmetology Continuing Education and courses start Spring 2025.

 

WDCE Scholarship Opportunities for the Nail Technician Program

Students must review the eligibility criteria and instructions for each opportunity. Please pay close attention to the instructions, and be sure to include any necessary documentation, as incomplete applications are not considered.

Workforce Development Sequence Scholarship

Up to $2,000 covers tuition, fees, and associated costs of attendance that have not been met through another grant or scholarship. Registration Information

Nail Technician I is considered open enrollment and is available to students on a first come, first serve basis until the class start date or the class is at maximum capacity. Students attempting to register online must login to their MyMC Student Account to register.

Nail Technician II and Nail Technician III are locked for registration and will require program approval to register because of required prerequisites.

Payment is due at the time of registration.
