A total Solar Eclipse will move diagonally across the USA from Oregon through Manhattan, Kansas to Charleston, South Carolina. It will only be partial here in the Washington DC Metro area. If you can not get to the total eclipse path, please join us on Monday August 21 from 12:30 to 3 p.m. in the planeatum where we will connect to sites that are in totality and broadcasting the event. We will also have a planetarium show explaining the event how, when, and where Eclipses happen overhead, and the real occult of the Sun, Moon, Stars, and Asteroids. Come and be part of the fun with us and others. Solar Eclipses are the most awesome celestial event that you can view and survive safely. If it is clear we will have telescopes set up outside to view the partial phases of the Solar Eclipse safely. The picture is Bailey’s beads during the beginning of totality taken by Dr. Harold Alden Williams at Saylita, Mexico on July 11, 1991 using film on a Nikon camera attached to a Montgomery College 3 1/2 inch apeture Questar telescope..
